Chapter meetings are on the third Thursday each month at Round Table Pizza in Federal Way, WA. 34410 16th Ave S. in the Walmart parking lot, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Everyone is Welcome.

Pool Demo and Muskie School in Sumner, Washington.

Very Special Guest Speaker: Mr. Larry Ramsell from Hayward Wisconsin. Larry is a Fishing Guide, Author, Historian and world class Muskie Angler.

During this 8 hour class we used the pool to demonstrate lure presentations so you can really see how it works. We also had detailed reports on the 7 Washington Lakes that are stocked with Muskies, instructions on proper Catch, Photo and Release (CPR) techniques, information and samples of different rods, reels and lines, and tools to keep the Muskie and the angler safe. There was a presentation from WDFW biologists about the Washington Muskie stocking program, a door prize, and a raffle for Muskie Gear.

Saturday February 21, 2009 10 AM to 2 PM
Muskie Seminar in Woodinvile WA at Three Rivers Marine and Tackle. (click the name for a map).

The Seminar was a great success with some 47 people participating. Tom Schafenacker was point man on this and had every detail covered and put together a comprehensive Power Point Presentation for the event. All of the speakers used the over head screen so all the anglers in the audience were captivated by our special graphics, detailed info and of course, pictures of our venerated Muskies! Both Brett Olson, Chapter 57's 2008 Angler of the Year and Mike Floyd, Angler of the Year for 2007, showed everyone tips and tricks about catching and releasing our Tiger Muskies and some of the rods/reels/line needed. Bill Green explained the details of trolling and the need for proper tools. People really appreciated his in-depth report about Lake Tapps, too! Perry Peterson shared about M.I at the National level and Buddy Hartman, our Chapter President, explained who we are and what we do for the fishery. Bruce Bolding, WDFW Biologist, Warm Water Specialist and Muskie advocate, gave his entertaining yet informative presentation about the stocking program, which included some brand new slides of our baby Muskies over at the Meseberg Hatchery; they are growing like weeds and very healthy!

Person traveling the farthest to attend? Chapter member Doug M. from Eugene Oregon, some 6 ½ hours to the south. Great to see you Doug!

The raffle included a VERY generous donation of an X BOX Pro which also included the Rapala fish game and the outrageous Gears of War video game. We also gave always a table full of prime, brand new Muskie lures. The seminar and the raffle were a huge success, due in no small part to the organization of Tom and the dedication of some very generous Chapter members and the esteemed Bruce Bolding. Way to go, Team TIGER PAC and WDFW and 3 Rivers Marine for all your support! It was an awesome day for Chapter #57 and the Tiger Muskies. Special Thanks for all who came!

Annual Chapter Meeting
This meeting was our annual election for the Board. We had free deserts and beverages, a free Muskie Rod door prize, a raffle and a chance to meet the members who can't make it to our regular Thursday evening meetings. You can download the 347KB PDF format Flyer.

1st Place: Ron & Roger Jutte, 42.75 inches. also 41 and 40 inches.
2nd Place: Ken & Doug Miller, 42.25 inches.
3rd Place: Mike Floyd & Brett Olson, 41.25 inches.
4th Place: Mike & Frank Haw, 39.5 inches.
4th Place: Keith Hoffman & Tom McManus, 39.5 inches.
5th Place: Norm Dillon & Don Hempler, 37 inches.
6th Place: Tyson Wendler & Mike Peters, 30 inches.
Cash was paid for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Ron and Roger Jutte also won the Double Option pot.

1st Place: Mark W. 43.5x19 inches and 32.25x14 inches earlier, qualifying him for the double option pot.
2nd place: Ken Miller, 38x17 inches (Remember, a girth measurement breaks a tie).
3rd Place: Rich Dilling, 38 inches.
Honorable Mention: Mike Haw, 33 inches.

5 couples participated in Chapter 57's very first Jack & Jill Muskie tournament.
1st Place: Ken and Tonia Miller, 42.5x20 inches.
2nd Place: Mark and Lori W., 40x18 inches.

1st place: Frank Haw 45.5 inches.
2nd place: Todd Reis 34 inches.
3rd place: Tom Schafenacker, honorable mention because he had to release the fish before getting a measurement.

Winners from the 1st Annual Muskies Inc, Chapter #57 NW TIGER PAC ANNUAL FUNDRAISER RAFFLE Brett Olson was the only winner present at the drawing.

What a great meeting, lots of fun and surprises and good folks. We kept the business to a minimum for this, our first Awards Ceremony.

16 folks received a certificate and heavy metal "Catch & Release" pin for volunteering at the Chapter 57 Booth at the Puyallup Sportsman Show.

Sportsman of the Year, was presented by Chairman Bill Green. This Award is for the member who participates in at least 75% of club events, represents us as a family club, respects other anglers, regardless of how they feel about CPR and who "leads by example".

This award is given to the angler who has tallied the most inches in Muskies (over 30 inches) caught and released. The longest was 46 inches and he had a grand total of 14 Tiger Muskies!! Even more impressive: this was Michael's FIRST YEAR targeting Tiger Muskies!

Last event of the evening was speaker Jack Tipping, WDFW, retired. Or at least he thought he was going to speak. 5 minutes into his presentation, Jack was interrupted by a very loud FedEx courier who "claimed" he had an important document for a Mr. Jack Tipping from a Mr. Doug Fletcher from Weippe, Idaho (Jack's former boss and mentor when he stocked the first tiger, 20 years ago in Mayfield Lake.) After presenting his ID (!) Courier Rick instructed Jack to read the document to the Chapter members. It was a surprise letter and a great, funny, moving tribute to the Father of Tiger Muskies in WA.

But the surprise did not end there; Perry Peterson, President, presented Jack with a plaque honoring all his dedication to the project along with a framed, beautiful, underwater photo of a tiger in the weeds and sunlight.

A generous, anonymous donor has also purchased Jack a 10 year membership in Muskies Inc.!

And last but not least, Jani played a video the Chapter put together (with the help of Jack's wife, Sharon, who was in on the surprise) complete with archived photos and some great pictures of Jack and some of his big fish. But mostly it includes our gratitude and appreciation. Want to see it again? It's on YouTube.

January 23 - 27, 2008
We had an informational booth at the Washington Sportsmen's Show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. It was a great chance to meet lots of new people and to catch up with old friends. There are some pictures in the photo section.

Sept. 15-16, 2007
The annual Lake Mayfield Resort Muskie Tournament (not a Muskies Inc. event).

1st place: Mike & Frank Haw, 42.75 inches.
2nd place: Tom Schafenacker & Jill Blakeway, 41.75 inches.
3rd place: Roger & Ron Jutte, 38.75 inches.
4th place: Todd & Graesen Reis, 38.5 inches.
A total of $1840.00 in cash was paid out to 1st through 3rd plus approximately $1000.00 in prizes were raffled off.

LAKE TAPPS MUSKIE TOURNAMENT!
1st Place: Mike F. 44 inches.
2nd Place: Mark W., 40 inches.
3rd Place: Jani K., 31 inches.

August 16
Chapter Meeting at Sportsman's Warehouse in Federal Way. Speakers were:
Mr. Jack Tipping from WDFW and Onalaska fame. He was the first man to stock a tiger Muskie in Washington waters back in 1988. It was a great story.
Mr. Don W. gave us a presentation on his successful tips for bucktail lures. He even showed us his favorite bucktail lure!
Free NW TIGER PAC T-Shirts were awarded to the 5 youngest anglers present.

July 28, 2007

1st Place: Miles, 43 inches.

July 19, 2007
Chapter Meeting at Sportsman's Warehouse in Federal Way. Sportsman's Warehouse provided a $10 gift certificate to each member in attendance. 5 more new members signed up that evening.

The historic first Chapter 57 Meeting took place at the Denny's Restaurant in Federal Way, WA. 34 people attended, with 17 new members signed up. Guest speakers were WDFW Warmwater Program Manager Steve Jackson along with Bruce Bolding, Warmwater Enhancement Coordinator.
